Wesley is graduating this year from Whitewright High School. I learned some things from this guy that I can't unlearn, ha. Seriously, great guy though...I know he's going to do exactly what he needs to do to succeed in this life. Advice? Always put God first and follow your dreams!

The World Senior Professional Bull Riders were at King's Trail Cowboy Church on February 21st. What a cool event to photograph! There were guys riding that had been doing it for a r e a l l y l o n g time...and they're still doing it! I know, that really stinks...I had to cut out so I missed it. : (
This was my fourth year to shoot the Kueckelhan Ranch Rodeo and each year tops the last. Great show, great athletes and a great bunch of folks that put it on. Haynes would be proud. What a great day at the Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie, Texas! Lots of events starting with the Junior Ranch Rodeo, then the Chuck Wagon cook-off, Adult Ranch Rodeo and last but definitely not least, some old fashioned bronc riding. I made some new friends hanging out at the arena all day...great fellowship as usual. My dogs were tired when I got home but my belly was full. : ) Here are some of my favorites from the day:

Since 2011, I have been intrigued by old barns in Texas. I love photographing them. I have found and photographed many in and around Fannin County and have ventured out beyond when I have the time. I'm always looking for new 'old' ones, anxious to add them to my collection. They appear in alphabetical order according to the town they are located in (the location is shown beneath each one). Whew! What a weekend. This is my 4th year to shoot the Kueckelhan Rodeo and I look forward to it every year. Three nights of standing, listening, watching and fighting the bugs and killer grasshoppers waiting on the perfect shot. I met some awesome folks and saw some old friends...it's always a great time. Last Saturday I spent the afternoon at Cross Trails Cowboy Church shooting the Women's Ranch Rodeo. What a bunch of talented girls they had competing! The rules are a little different for the women than they are for the men but all in all, it was very impressive. It seems like not that long ago, we were scheduling Nathanyal's newborn session...my how time flies. I can't believe he's already one! And look at that head of hair! So when I shoot rodeos, I'm secretly anticipating the bulls and the broncs because I LOVE capturing the action. With this event, it was ALL broncs. It was so much fun to shoot even though the lighting conditions in the arena weren't the greatest on Sunday. Bois D'Arc Creek Cowboy Church hosted the Iron Cowboy competition in their arena again this year. Lots of cowboys come to compete against each other for the title...and this year a father and son took second and first place, respectively. : ) It was a great day to be in the arena and so much fun to photograph. Little miss Bess came to see me at one month old. What a sweet baby girl! Her brothers and sister came with her. Baby Braylynn is an absolute gift from God whom Rebecca and Brian have been praying for such a long time. A couple weeks ago, Mr. Shelby came to see me at the studio. He warned me ahead of time that I was going to LOVE taking his picture and that I did. : ) We had a fun couple of hours. Then when we were done...I got to see his street clothes. I didn't get any pics at that point but you'll probably be glad I didn't. LOL All kidding aside, Shelby's graduating from Ector High School this year and I wish him nothing but the best. Here's a few of the highlights from his session:
Wow. I've watched this guy grow up from the beginning of his time and I can't believe he is on his way to graduating high school. Time does fly. He's very active in the Lakeview Theatre...and even won a couple awards. No big deal...ha. I'm very proud of the young man he's become and pray for a speedy return from the US Air Force...where he intends to enlist after graduation to further his education. You go Bryan Brown...dream big and put God first and the sky's the limit!
Oh... and did I mention he's so stinkin' handsome??! : )
What a fun shoot this was! Zena is such a sweet girl...it's no wonder that she's Captain of the Lakeview Centennial High School Sweethearts. After graduation she'll be off to college and I wish her all the best. Just in the short time we spent together, I have no doubt that she will excel on whatever path God leads her down. Congratulations Zena!
I'm so ready for this warmer weather! I'm really not a winter person so now that spring is here and it's warming up, I can finally get out and enjoy some of the fresh air and all of the beauty God surrounds us with. I made my way down to the lake for lunch and saw this 'lump' on a tree. It wasn't moving and I couldn't figure out what it was. I got closer and realized it was a squirrel and for a change, it wasn't running! I stood under that tree and took pics of that poor squirrel, flash firing, for a good 15 minutes. I'm sure he was glad when I left. : )

So my momma and my crazy aunt came to see me at the studio Saturday morning sporting their green, rainbow t-shirts. ..:0 Luckily they brought some 'dress up' clothes too...lol. And there's never a dull moment when you get these two together. They are two beautiful ladies, inside and out. I wouldn't be the person I am without the influence they've had on my life (though I'm really not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...) I'm so blessed to have them and love them both to the moon and back!
These are images from Eric's Senior Portrait Session. We had fun trekking through a beautiful pasture on a cloud covered Saturday morning stopping here and there along the way. I think this old gate was my favorite spot. Eric is graduating from Dodd City High School...congratulations Eric!!
